While many interactive and animated educational infographics accurately portray the raw numbers and data behind the racial wealth gap, there is a lack of articles or websites that walk the reader through the history of how this gap came to be, and often presents the data in a detached, emotionless way.
Create an interactive article that details the history of the racial wealth gap, combining copy and interactive graphics to immerse the reader into the material.
Period photos were textured with assorted brush tools in Photoshop to add a crafted finish, highlighting the people who are at the center of this story.
To direct attention and to signify an overall urgency in recognizing such a monumental issue, orange was used in contrast with a grainy monochrome over off-white.
A dark bruise color was used for body text to convey the pain still felt by affected communities.
